EVA BLONDIAU / GERMANY
Each year at the Festival de Cannes, 20 promising, up-and-coming producers from throughout Europe are selected by the European Film Promotion (EFP) to participate in PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE. The initiative is aimed at connecting young, enterprising European producers with potential co-production partners, strengthening their industry networks and, at the same time, providing a solid and visible platform for this next generation of European filmmakers. The producers go through a rigorous selection process which places the top contenders in a tightly focused working environment during the festival. They take part in project pitching, 1:1 meetings and case studies, social events and an extensive press campaign, which includes online presentation and profiles in the international trades. Representing Germany this year is Eva Blondiau of the Cologne-based production company COLOR OF MAY.
EVA BLONDIAU graduated from the ifs international film school in Cologne in 2012 with her production of Elmar Imanov’s THE SWING OF THE COFFIN MAKER. Her partner’s graduation film was invited to more than 100 festivals and won over 40 awards, including the Student Oscar®. In 2013, they founded their production company COLOR OF MAY and produced their next short, TORN, which premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes in 2014. Since then, they have co-produced Iosep ’Soso’ Bliadze’s short THREE STEPS and Veronika Glasunowa and Lukasz Lakomy’s feature documentary LONG ECHO as well as Boris Khlebnikov’s ARRHYTHMIA. Imanov’s feature debut END OF SEASON won the FIPRESCI Prize when it premiered in Rotterdam in 2019.
